State Department spokesman Morgan Ortagus said that Washington is exploring options for adopting measures against Turkey in connection with the purchase of Russian C-400 anti-aircraft missile systems.

According to her, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and President Donald Trump are exploring options available within the framework of the Sanctions Against the Enemies of America Through Sanctions Act (CAATSA).

"The Secretary of State and the President are exploring all the options that are available under the CAATSA law," RIA Novosti quotes her.

Previously, Pentagon presidential candidate Mark Esper said that the Ankara purchase of the C-400 undermines the potential of the F-35 fighter-bombers.

On July 16, the next aircraft with components of S-400 air defense systems arrived in Turkey.
