President Emmanuel Macron travels to Belgrade on Monday and Tuesday with the goal, according to Paris, of "renewing ties" with Serbia, after several snags in recent years.

His visit was canceled in December due to the crisis of yellow vests. But Emmanuel Macron begins Monday a trip to Serbia. Two days on the spot to reconnect with this candidate country for entry into the European Union.

"This is not the moment to bring a 29th state into the EU". The image made a lot of noise in Serbia and Emmanuel Macron will undoubtedly try to make it forget. During the ceremonies on November 11 in Paris, the Serbian president was placed in a secondary gallery and his Kosovar counterpart in the main stand, alongside Emmanuel Macron, Donald Trump Vladimir Putin. "Humiliation" had plagued Belgrade, so much the relations between the two neighbors remain execrable.

The Elysee today recognizes an "incident". Emmanuel Macron will inaugurate a monument to Franco-Serb friendship in Belgrade. The Head of State should also recall that he wants the return of the dialogue between Serbia and Kosovo. Where Emmanuel Macron should not be content with his counterpart, however, it is on the European question: in the heart of the Balkans, Serbia would see fit to join the Union. Without closing the door, a close of the Head of State warns: "When we see the difficulty of moving Europe to 28, it is not the moment to bring in a 29th state." A crest line just as China is stepping up investments in the Balkans, especially in Serbia.
