Al-Jazeera correspondent reported the killing of ten civilians, including six children and wounding others, as a result of raids believed to be Russian targeting the outskirts of the city of Khan Sheikun in southern countryside Idlib.

He added that the shelling, which occurred in the early hours of Saturday morning, targeted an underground shelter at a farm that housed two displaced families from the town of Latamna in the northern district of Hama, killing all of them.

A video clip published by the Civil Defense in Idlib province showed its members retrieving the bodies of the children from the shelter where the families were sheltering from the shelling.

The aircraft also shelled the town of Kufriya, killing a pregnant woman and a man and injuring 11 others.

The reporter of the French Press Agency saw the woman's body and beside her the fetus that came out of her belly.

Bombing and displacement
The shelling included residential areas in other towns in rural Idlib, causing extensive damage, and dozens of families were displaced from the targeted neighborhoods, fearing fresh raids.

The flight of the regime and Russia had targeted Friday the city of Idlib for the first time during the current escalation that began ten weeks ago.

In the past few days, dozens of civilians have been killed in rural Idlib and Hama as a result of heavy shelling by Russian planes and aircraft, raising the toll of civilian casualties since the start of the current military campaign in the region at the end of last April to about 600 dead.

In the northern Hama countryside, there are ongoing battles between the opposition forces and the regime's forces in several areas.

The political solution
Politically, the negotiating body of the opposition has confirmed that its talks with UN envoy Nader Pederson did not lead to a final understanding on the issues of political solution to the crisis.

The negotiating body of the island said that the meeting held in the Turkish city of Istanbul addressed the file of detainees in the prisons of the Syrian regime and developments in the state of Idlib.

The talks also did not lead to agreement on the final list of members of the Constitutional Committee, which is supposed to reformulate the constitution, which will include 150 members representing the regime, the opposition and civil society by 50 members of each of the three parties.

The UN envoy met the negotiating body after a tour in which all parties concerned with the Syrian file met.

Biderson met Wednesday in Damascus with Foreign Minister Walid al-Moallem, and talked about progress towards forming a constitutional committee.
