As diplomats point out, during the global conference on media freedom, Hunt "fully supported the non-admission to the event of representatives" of RT and Sputnik agency.

“This is regrettable. The head of the Foreign Office missed an excellent opportunity to dissociate itself from the mistakes of subordinates and take a position that would correspond to the stated objectives of the conference - promoting media freedom, including from state interference, ”the message reads.

The embassy noted that the logic of the British side is "difficult to understand."

“Correspondents of Russian media broadcasting in Russia, but not representatives of RT broadcasting to the UK on the basis of a valid British license, were admitted to the conference,” the statement said.

The embassy added that in the event of non-compliance with the rules of broadcasting in Britain, there is a formal Ofcom regulator independent of the government and the judiciary.

“By the way, as recently as June, the High Court of London indicated that Ofcom’s claims against RT are controversial and need further study,” the diplomats stressed.

It is noted that the Foreign Office, on the other hand, “already implements its“ sanctions ”against RT - as well as on many other issues, without due process and evidence.”

Earlier, Jeremy Hunt repeated the accusations against RT and Sputnik, who were denied accreditation to a conference on media freedom in London.

On July 5, it became known that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the United Kingdom did not issue RT accreditation to the conference.

The representative of the agency, commenting on this decision, noted that these media were not accredited "because of their active participation in the dissemination of misinformation."

The Kremlin called the situation a manifestation of absurdity.
