Berlin (dpa) - SPD Group vice Karl Lauterbach and the environmental politician Nina Scheer want to run as a team for the party presidency. They announced their application for information from the German Press Agency.
They are concerned with a policy that reduces inequalities, protects the natural foundations of life and is undiluted Social Democratic.
Lauterbach and Scheer are the second applicant duo, previously European Minister of State Michael Roth and the former North Rhine-Westphalian Family Minister Christina Kampmann announced their candidacy.
Candidates for the succession of the retired party leader Andrea Nahles have until 1 September time to throw their hat in the ring. The chair should be filled after a member survey at a party conference in early December.
