Brazilian president Jair Bolsonaro has nominated his own son Eduardo as the new Brazilian ambassador to the United States. He is currently a member of Congress in his home country.

"The decision lies with him," said the president. "I don't want to choose him if that means he has to give up his job here."

His son Eduardo said he will take the job if he is officially nominated. "If this is an assignment I get from the president, I accept him. I want to get out of Congress for that too."

The appointment still has to be approved by the Senate.

In 2018, Bolsonaro campaigned against nepotism and all families who in the past controlled Brazilian politics.
