American veteran Justin Gatlin (37) tamed his compatriot Noah Lyles, winning in 9 sec 91 the 100 m of the Monaco Diamond League meeting on Friday.

The young Lyles (21), author of a stunning 200m last week in Lausanne (19.50), has to bow for a hundredth of a second. Another American, Michael Rodgers, finished 3rd in 10 sec 01.

Frenchman Jimmy Vicaut has again disappointed by finishing only 6th in 10 sec 17, still not meeting the "level of performance required" by the French Athletics Federation (FFA) for the Doha Worlds (27 September - 6 October ).
