Botswana's Nijel Amos clocked a supersonic time by winning the Monaco Diamond League meeting in 1: 41: 89, with Pierre-Ambroise Bosse clocking 1: 45.43 for his 9th-place finish.

After following the hare, Nijel Amos was never able to be reassembled by his competitors and for good reason: he achieved the 15th best world performance of all time. Only four half-breeders went faster in their lives (Kenya's David Rudisha, Denmark's Wilson Kipketer, Briton Sebastian Coe and Brazil's Joaquim Cruz).

Amos broke his own meeting record but did not improve his personal best (1: 41.73) set in 2012.

For his recovery race, world champion Pierre-Ambroise Bosse took the 9th place in 1: 45.43, his best run of the year since 2015, although he stalled slightly in the home stretch.
