An attack and a bomb attack on a hotel in Somalia killed at least twelve people on Friday.

A suicide bomber blew himself up at the hotel in the port city of Kismayo in southern Somalia after which a group of armed men stormed the hotel.

The al-Shabaab terror movement claimed responsibility shortly after the incident. There was a meeting with politicians at the hotel. Among the dead would be a well-known Somali activist.

The terrorist organization, which has links with Al Qaeda, often commits attacks in Somalia.
