Russian President Vladimir Putin dismissed the governor of Sevastopol, Dmitry Ovsyannikov, at his request. Acting head of the region appointed Mikhail Razvozhaev.

Ovsyannikov was appointed Acting Party of Sevastopol in July 2016, in September 2017 he defeated the first nationwide election of the head of the region.

Putin informed him about the appointment of Razvozhayev during a personal meeting.

"Vladimir Putin held a working meeting with Mikhail Razvozhaev, during which he announced the decision to appoint him Acting Governor of Sevastopol," the Kremlin press service reports.

The retired Ovsyannikov thanked residents and colleagues for their support and work on the development of the city. His appeal was published on the website of the Government of Sevastopol.

“Today the president appointed me as the acting governor of Sevastopol. I consider the appointment a very important task. I take it as a high trust of the president, ”wrote Razvozhaev in his Instagram account.

He added that he intends to make every effort to "earn the trust of the people of Sevastopol."
