The ministry recalled that Ruud called the measures taken by the Russian leadership in connection with what is happening in Georgia “unjust, unnecessary and disproportionate”.

“In this regard, we would like to remind Ms. Rood about what“ unjust, unnecessary and disproportionate measures are, ”the text says.

The Foreign Ministry noted that "at least from 1974 to the present time" there was not a single day when US sanctions would not have been applied to Russia.

As an example, the foreign ministry cited the Jackson-Vanik amendment, the boycott of the 1980 Olympic Games, the Magnitsky law, as well as sanctions related to the Ukrainian crisis.

“By now, the number of US sanctions waves has reached 65,” they added there, ironically urging Rood to tell about the “justice, necessity and proportionality” of US sanctions against Russia.

On June 21, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree banning Russian airlines from carrying out air transportation of citizens to Georgia due to the difficult domestic political situation.

The document will come into force on July 8.
