The 24-nation Africa Cup of Nations (CAN) begins Friday (June 20th) in Egypt and RFI will broadcast exclusively more than 40 matches on its World and Africa channels. Detail of the exceptional device of the Radio of the world for this major competition of the African football.

After the signing of an agreement with the Confederation of African Football (CAF) , RFI will be able to offer its listeners in Africa, but also in France, more than forty matches live and in full. And World Radio has deployed an exceptional arsenal to cover the African Cup of Nations (CAN). Programming in detail:

  • More than 40 live games

Of the 52 games scheduled, RFI has planned to broadcast 41, the never seen, since up to three meetings will be broadcast on certain days. This both on our African antenna ( RFI Africa ) and on the World antenna. From the round of 16, all games will be broadcast in full.

  • CAN Journal

A novelty in 2019, RFI will broadcast a Journal of the CAN , with elements of our 22 special envoys. You can listen to them at 3:42, 4:42, 5:42, 6:42 and 7:42 UT and have a summary of the competition in five minutes.

  • Foot Radio in special programming

From Monday to Friday, Radio Foot Internationale will also have a special program, but its two editions (afternoon and evening) will be broadcast all targets (on World and Africa Antennas). But the slot schedule will be changed to not coincide with CAN matches. Thus, the broadcast will take place at 13:10 UTC (instead of 15:10 UTC), then 19:10 UTC (instead of 21:10 UTC).

  • Mondial Sports gives priority to CAN

The Mondial Sports show, on Saturdays and Sundays, will have the CAN as a priority subject, although the rest of the sports news has its place as well. The Saturday 22nd and 29th editions will, however, be canceled due to the transmission of the live matches.
