"We urge Russia to comply with the court decision and immediately release the Ukrainian seamen and the court," - said in a message to the diplomatic mission on Facebook.

Earlier, NATO said they did not see a “justification” for Russia's use of military force against Ukrainian ships and military personnel.

On May 25, the UN International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea demanded that Russia release 24 sailors and three ships of the Ukrainian Navy detained for violating the Russian border.

After the decision of the UN tribunal on the incident in the Kerch Strait, the Russian Foreign Ministry ruled out the possibility of using the 1982 UN Convention on the Law of the Sea to resolve the dispute over the incident in the Kerch Strait and stated that the arbitration does not have jurisdiction to consider this issue.

Three Ukrainian warships and 24 sailors were detained on November 25, 2018 in the Kerch Strait, after having illegally crossed the Russian border.
