The Congo Congo Justice and Peace Commission of the Congo National Episcopal Conference (Cenco), the Synergy of Citizen Election Observation Missions (Symocel) and the platform Acting for Transparent and Peaceful Elections (AETA) evaluated the process for five days. in the DRC. They presented Saturday, May 25 some recommendations for future deadlines.

The three missions first want to settle the question of the periodicity of elections. They pointed out that the presidential, legislative and provincial polls went beyond the deadlines set by the Constitution.

" The presidents of the Republic and the national deputies have exceeded by two years the terms of their mandates. Senators, MLAs and provincial governors have exceeded theirs by more than seven years , "said Bishop Abraham Djamba, president of the Synergy of Citizen Election Observation Missions (Symocel) .

And on this issue, the organizers of these structures expect assurances from Felix Tshisekedi. " Forum participants expect the President of the Republic, the guarantor of the proper functioning of institutions a firm commitment to the issue of respect for the number and duration of mandates of all elected officials, " he said.

These electoral missions also want an overhaul of the Independent National Electoral Commission (CENI), which for them should not be animated by political actors. " Provide the Ceni with an office composed exclusively of electoral technicians presented by religious denominations and civil society organizations working in the field of election observation ," advocated Bishop Abraham Djamba.

They also propose the revision of the electoral law in particular by pruning the threshold of representativity.
