France's Caroline Garcia, 24th in the world, qualified for the semi-finals of the WTA tournament in Strasbourg on Thursday after defeating Marta Kostyuk of Ukraine, who won the qualifying round, 3-6, 6-3, 6-2.
The 25-year-old, winner of the Alsace title in 2016, will face fellow-countrywoman Chloé Paquet, 223rd, who eliminated Australian Daria Gavrilova (63) 6-3, 7-6 (7/1), finalist for the 2017 edition.
Other Tricolore, Fiona Ferro, 88th world, was however released by the Ukrainian Dayana Yastremska 6-1, 6-3.
The last quarter-final will be against the Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka, seeded N.2, Puerto Rican Monica Puig.
