Ukraine is in favor of a phased abolition of the right of veto in the UN Security Council in the face of “aggression from Russia,” wrote the Ukrainian permanent representative to the UN, Vladimir Yelchenko.

“Our state also consistently advocates the phased abolition of the veto right especially in the face of aggression against Ukraine by Russia as one of the permanent members of the Security Council,” he wrote in an article for the publication Mirror of the Week.

Earlier, former UN Deputy Secretary General Sergei Ordzhonikidze, in an interview with NSN, assessed the statement of the representative of the Ukrainian delegation to the UN, reminding of the “need” to deprive the members of the World Organization of the World Organization of the opportunity to use the veto.

In November 2018, the representative of the Ukrainian delegation at the meeting of the UN General Assembly reiterated the need to deprive the members of the Security Council of the world organization the opportunity to use the veto.
