Emmanuel Macron announced the dissolution of the collective "Bastion social" Wednesday morning at the end of the council of ministers. The most recent showcase of the nationalist extreme right, the organization has been accused of incitement to hatred, discrimination and violent actions.

The Social Bastion is founded in 2017 on the ruins of the Union Defense Group (GUD) , when the nationalist extreme right was moribund.

The slogan of the Social Bastion is the national preference, a language element common to the National Rally (RN, former National Front). Its militants, whose number is unknown, fight against immigration, liberalism and the European Union, among others.

Very quickly, the Bastion begins to spread everywhere in France. They occupy a building in Lyon, open a bar in Strasbourg, locals in Marseille, Chambéry, Clermont-Ferrand, Angers or Aix-en-Provence. But none stays open long.

The aim of the movement was to renew the image of the radical extreme right, previously embodied by skinhead movements. This includes marauding, to help the homeless ... provided they have French nationality.

However, behind this staging of solidarity actions, the Social Bastion is the worthy heir of the GUD, a movement known for its violent actions. Since 2017, at least seven members of the Bastion have been fined or jailed for racist attacks or incitement to racial hatred.

The government also plans to dissolve Generation Identity , a neo-fascist organization very influential in France.
