“Now there is an election campaign going on in Ukraine, respectively, the passions are becoming more and more. Forces that are in opposition to the current president indicate that because of his unconstructive position in negotiations with Russia, Ukraine is losing transit. And this is $ 2-3 billion a year simply because a pipe was laid on their territory in Soviet times. Ukraine as an independent country did nothing to get this money, ”said Yushkov.

According to him, Vadim Rabinovich is right that "Ukraine will no longer receive such money, but it remains an open question about how constructive the country will behave after the elections."

“Much depends on whether more negotiable people come to power there. It is most beneficial for Kiev now, within the framework of the Russia-Ukraine-EU trilateral commission, to agree on where Moscow will supply gas and on which European country is ready to buy gas through Ukraine. Accordingly, leave the pipes only in this direction and only for the required volume. But so far, the Ukrainian government is far from this constructive position. All this leads to the fact that Russia takes transit away from them as much as possible, ”the expert concluded.

Earlier, Rabnovich said that in case of loss of transit of Russian gas, Kiev would have to pay huge funds for the maintenance of the inactive gas pipeline.
