Colombo (AFP) Following the suicide attacks in Sri Lanka, the country's police chief resigns his post. Pujith Jayasundara had submitted his resignation in the face of failures in the run-up to the attacks on Easter Sunday with the acting defense minister, said head of state Maithripala Sirisena on Friday to journalists. He would "soon" appoint a new police chief, the president added. Sirisena's proposal must then be confirmed by the Constitutional Council.
