A local Islamist movement, the National Thowheeth Jama'ath (NTJ), is behind the suicide bombings that left 290 people dead in Sri Lanka on Sunday, government spokesman Rajitha Senaratne said on Monday. The Sri Lankan authorities are investigating any links the organization has with foreign groups. The NJT had been alerted 10 days ago by the police that the movement was planning attacks on churches and the Indian embassy in Colombo.
