An explosion occurred Monday in the Sri Lankan capital Colombo during a bomb disposal operation in a van stopped near a church struck the day before by a suicide bombing, police said.

It was not known immediately whether this explosion caused casualties and to what extent it was controlled by demining teams. On Twitter, a video from The Guardian's special correspondent showed panic over what he described as a "small explosion".
