The ikbenveilig.nl website has been opened by the Red Cross. This allows the Dutch in Sri Lanka to let them know that they are safe.

It is not yet known at the travel agencies TUI and Thomas Cook whether there are also Dutch tourists among the victims who fell in Sri Lanka during the attacks. The guests of these travel companies are certainly not accommodated in the hotels that were the target of the attacks, said the spokespersons.

The National Thowheeth Jama'ath (NTJ) is said to have planned the attacks. NTJ is a group of radical Muslims who were held responsible for the destruction of Buddhist images last year.
