The German police held a big action against organized crime in the Ruhr area on Saturday night.
There have been raids at among others shishalounges, cafes, tea houses and betting offices in Dortmund, Essen and Duisburg.
About thirteen hundred agents were deployed, who were supported by the customs and the tax authorities. According to the German Federal Ministry of the Interior of the federal state of North Rhine-Westphalia, it was the grand operation against organized crime in the history of the region.
The campaign focused on money laundering, undeclared work and tax evasion, mainly carried out by criminal families, gangs and Mafia fans.
The operation would have lasted all night, according to the ministry.
