"President Poroshenko assured that the Ukrainian state will defend the right of clergy and laity to the free choice of church jurisdiction," wrote Tsegolko on Facebook.
According to him, the Ukrainian leader informed the hierarchs about his negotiations with the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew and about the readiness of Constantinople to facilitate the holding of a unifying council.
Tsegolko said that the Russian script was “disrupted,” since the meeting was held in the Ukrainian House.
Earlier, the media reported Poroshenko’s meeting with part of the hierarchs of the UOC-MP.
