Rome (AP) - The Swedish environmental activist Greta Thunberg meets Pope Francis at the general audience next Wednesday in Rome. The 16-year-old belongs to the circle of visitors who are allowed to greet the Pope in St. Peter's Square, says dpa's Vatican spokesman. Thunberg has been on strike since August 2018 for more climate protection worldwide. Their protest has inspired people around the world to take to the streets on Fridays to advocate a stricter climate policy. Francis is also committed to this topic. Next Friday, Thunberg wants to participate in a school strike in Rome.
