Six blasts targeted three churches and three hotels Sunday in and around the capital of Sri Lanka during the Easter Mass, killing and wounding dozens, police and hospital sources said.

In a preliminary report by the Sri Lankan police, at least 42 people were killed and more than 100 injured.

"We have received 80 people and more are arriving in succession," said an official at the Colombo National Hospital. Police also said six explosions targeted three luxury hotels, a church in Colombo and two other churches close to the capital, one in Negombo, north of Colombo.

"An attack on our church, we hope you will come to help us if your family is there," said an appeal published by the Church of San Sebastian in Negombo on its Facebook page.
