The death toll due to the gas explosion in the center of Paris has been adjusted from four to three on Saturday. Two fatalities worked for the fire brigade, the third is a person from Spain.

The firefighters were killed by the explosion when they were extinguishing a fire in a bakery, reports French Interior Minister Christophe Castaner. A third firefighter was injured. He is in danger of life.

The Spanish Foreign Minister reports that a third fatal victim has fallen. That person has the Spanish nationality.

Another nine people are in mortal danger and dozens of people were injured.

The explosion in the bakery happened around 9 am. Images from shortly afterwards show a huge havoc. There was shouting in the street and the front of the building was completely blown away. In addition, many windows have also been killed in buildings near the bakery.

Castaner says to live with the victims. "My first thoughts are with the injured and their loved ones," he reported on Twitter.

According to him, two hundred firefighters were deployed to offer help after the explosion.
