The president of the African Football Confederation (CAF), Ahmad, denied being guilty of corruption and sexual harassment on 17 April 2019 with Jeune Afrique . According to Reuters, CAF's former secretary general, Amr Fahmy, sent a case against Malagasy to the International Football Federation, before the Egyptian was removed from his post as head of the administration.

The controversy swells following the dismissal of the Head of Administration (Secretary General) of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), occurred on April 11, 2019. A few days after the dismissal of Amr Fahmy, the CAF justified this decision by a laconic " faults characterized ", without going into details . The Egyptian was immediately replaced by a Moroccan, Mouad Hajji, who was appointed in January "general coordinator" of the administration of this institution based in Egypt.

At first, Amr Fahmy's departure seemed to be linked to her precarious health, which North African media has already reported. The young director (36), whose father (Mustapha) and grandfather (Mourad) were in the same position, appeared to be very weak, on the sidelines of the draw for the 2019 African Cup of Nations organized in Cairo.

Heavy charges

But, according to Reuters, Amr Fahmy would actually pay the fact of having sent a file to the International Football Federation (FIFA) on March 31 against his now ex-boss. Fahmy allegedly accused the President of the African Football Confederation of corruption and sexual harassment, according to a document to which the British news agency had access.

In detail, Ahmad reportedly ordered the secretary-general to pay $ 20,000 to presidents of African federations. The Malagasy would have favored the signing of a less advantageous contract for CAF, with a French sports equipment company, Tactical Steel. He would have bought $ 400,000 worth of cars. Finally, the one who is also vice-president of FIFA allegedly sexually harassed four employees of the Confederation.

Ahmad counter-attack

Joined by the magazine Jeune Afrique , Ahmad rejected all these statements. Regarding the acquisition of cars, he retorted: " We felt that systematically rent vehicles was very expensive, hence the decision to acquire. About the deal with Tactical Steel, he says, " It was done in a transparent way. The sums committed by CAF have all been validated. He said the French company " would file a complaint against Fahmy ".

On the Egyptian, the boss of loose African football: " We have records on him. That's why we decided not to keep it. [...] Amr Fahmy does not leave the CAF after an amicable agreement, but it is a revocation. The decision had been taken for several months. He had health problems. And that's why we decided to wait. He adds: " Fahmy had put pressure on Egyptian employees to make them say they were being harassed, which they refused to do. "

Other charges

FIFA, which was joined by Reuters, refused to confirm the opening of an investigation against one of the allies of its president, Switzerland's Gianni Infantino.

Egypt's Amr Fahmy would not be the first to attack the president of the African Football Confederation. Last February, Musa Bility, Ahmad's former supporter, published two murderous letters to the successor of Issa Hayatou, accusing him mainly of abuse of power.
