The Integrity Committee of the Iraqi parliament decided to investigate charges of tax evasion of the Chinese company Oasis, which develops the field Ahdab oil province of Wasit south of the country.

The China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) has established the Oasis Company to develop the field for 23 years. Al-Waha is accused of tax evasion of $ 180 million.

A member of the Integrity Committee in the Iraqi parliament Kazem al-Shammari said in a statement issued today that "the Integrity Commission will begin to investigate files of corruption and tax evasion of the Chinese company operating the field Ahdab oil, which cost $ 180 million for the Iraqi government."

"We have documents proving the process of corruption and tax evasion in the contract development of the field Ahdab, where the Chinese Oasis company, in cooperation with some influential in the Ministry of Oil and the General Authority for Taxation, to pay the financial dues it had.

He added that "the Inspector-General of the Ministry of Oil was provided with all the documents to start an urgent investigation of this file, which includes financial and administrative corruption and waste of public money."
