The board of the Kyiv District Administrative Court appealed to the High Council of Justice, the Prosecutor General’s Office of Ukraine and the State Bureau of Investigation with a request to begin the procedure of impeaching the president of the country, Petro Poroshenko, according to the website of the court.

As the judges note in their statements, the state leadership, commenting on the decision to recognize the illegal nationalization of PrivatBank, “made statements that are a direct threat to the judicial system of Ukraine, an encroachment on its independence and impartiality”.

"The judges ask to start a pre-trial investigation against the head of state, the Minister of Justice and the NBU chairman by entering relevant information into the Unified Register of Pre-Trial Judgments, which will result in the perpetrators being brought to criminal responsibility," the document states. They also proposed to raise with the Verkhovna Rada the question of initiating the procedure of impeachment of Poroshenko.

In addition, shortly before this, one of the judges of the Kyiv District Administrative Court filed a lawsuit against Petro Poroshenko because of the inaction of the president, who did not issue a decree on his appointment to a judicial position in time.

Earlier, Poroshenko criticized the decision of judges to recognize the illegal nationalization of PrivatBank, which belonged to Igor Kolomoisky, and also appealed to the SBU and the Prosecutor General’s Office to analyze and find grounds for initiating criminal cases against judges, calling their verdict “unjust”.

In addition, he put forward the idea of re-evaluating the judges of the district court.

“I have a proposal to the participants of the meeting: to appeal to the High Qualification Commission with a request, a proposal to speed up the qualification assessment process of judges of first instance from this particular court according to their schedule,” RIA Novosti quoted him as saying.

The judges saw this as an attempt to pressure and interfere in their work.

“Analyzing these statements, they (the judges. - RT ) consider it reasonable to say that such obviously resonant actions of the President of Ukraine, the Chairman of the National Bank of Ukraine and the Minister of Justice of Ukraine were committed to put pressure on the composition of the court conducting case No. 826 / 7432/17, and have signs of a crime under Part 2 of Art. 376 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, namely interventions in any form in the activities of a judge, ”- stated in their statement.

The decision to nationalize PrivatBank was passed by the Ukrainian Cabinet in December 2016. The government called for this the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) and shareholders of a financial institution. The authorities explained their actions by concern for the stability of the financial system of Ukraine, since the bankruptcy of such a large bank would deal a huge blow to it.

By that time, PrivatBank accounted for 21% of all assets of the country's banking system, 36% of deposits of individuals, half of plastic cards issued and 61% of ATMs. However, the balance of the credit organization then created a gap of more than $ 5 billion, which is why the bank was declared insolvent by the decision of the NBU.

Kolomoisky believes that all these steps were initiated by Poroshenko, who "wanted to profit from someone else's property."

“He organized the nationalization of PrivatBank together with (who served as the head of the NBU Valeria. - RT ) Gontaryova. Just as he organized looting in Ukroboronprom, Kolomoysky said in an interview with the Economic Truth newspaper.

"I will leave office, but not from policy"

On April 21, the second round of presidential elections was held in Ukraine. According to the results of counting 100% of the protocols, the comedian Vladimir Zelensky won - 73.22% of the voters voted for him, while 24.45% were for Petro Poroshenko.

The current head of state recognized the voting results and first congratulated Zelensky. At the same time, he added that he was not going to leave politics.

“Next month I will leave the post of head of state. That is what most Ukrainians decided, and I accept this decision. I will leave the office, but I will not leave politics, ”said Poroshenko.

Threats of impeachment and the initiation of a criminal case against Poroshenko may be attempts at political pressure on him, says political analyst Ivan Mezyuho.

“I do not exclude that after Poroshenko’s presidency, criminal cases will be initiated against him or members of his team. True, the big question is whether they will be completed. Perhaps we are talking about some kind of political bargaining. And maybe someone from the current crumbling political elite in Ukraine is trying to show his loyalty to Zelensky in order to become part of his team, ”said RT Mezyuho.

The party "Batkivshchyna" noted that the Zelensky team does not intend to take steps against the outgoing president, but the Poroshenko team may be under attack.

“Nobody promised safety to them. Look, the Prosecutor General’s Office is already calling in for questioning the former head of the NBU, Valery Gontaryov, the former head of the presidential administration Boris Lozhkin. That is, Zelensky has not yet taken office, and Poroshenko’s associates have already come under attack, ”said a source in a political union.

In Ukraine, resources are being redistributed between political forces, Bogdan Bezpalko, member of the Council for Interethnic Relations under the President of Russia, expressed his opinion in a conversation with RT. He believes that the pressure on Petro Poroshenko will continue until the elections to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine are held this fall.

"It is likely that everyone will come to the final consensus only after parliamentary elections, in which Poroshenko will undoubtedly take part both in order to maintain his presence in politics and in order to obtain personal immunity," the expert added.

"Fee for the victory of Zelensky"

The current president considers the statements of judges to be the result of Zelensky’s success in the vote, a source in the Petro Poroshenko Bloc party noted in the RT commentary.

“The head of state said that this is a payment for the victory of Vladimir Zelensky in the elections. It is clear that if Petro Poroshenko had not lost the presidential election, the judges would never have dared to make such a statement. But now Poroshenko may be held accountable for their actions. I think that actions will not go further than the imposition of a fine, ”said the source.

The RT source in the “Self-help” party admitted that criminal prosecution of the current head of state is possible, taking into account the case of embezzlement in Ukroboronprom.

“Everyone is ready to work with the new president, Vladimir Zelensky. Not the fact that they will not begin to testify against Petro Poroshenko. Therefore, the initiation of criminal cases is possible if, for example, Oleg Gladkovsky (the person involved in the corruption scandal. - RT ) testifies about the involvement of the president in corruption in the army. It will be difficult for Gladkovsky himself to avoid responsibility, ”he noted.
