In the trial for 100-fold murder Niels Högel has apologized. "If there was a way that would help you, then I would go, believe me," said the 41-year-old before the district court of Oldenburg. "I'm really sorry."

The former nurse is accused of killing 100 patients at clinics in Delmenhorst and Oldenburg (read a report on the start of the trial). According to the investigators, Högel injected his victims with drugs in a lethal dose in order to revive them. He wanted to impress his colleagues with his reanimation arts.

The current process has been running for a good three weeks. Högel had admitted the allegations to the prelude majority. He has already been sentenced to life imprisonment for the death of six patients in Delmenhorst.
