The jury writes in its motivation: "The turn of the millennium and the present in a beautiful and melancholy story about becoming an adult."

Among the nominees were authors such as Håkan Nesser, Camilla Grebe and Ninni Schulman.

The best translated novel of the year was Jo Callaghan's "In the blink of an eye", translated by Hanna Williamsson.

According to the Swedish Crime Writers' Academy, this year's debut crime novel is "A Farmer's Death" by Negar Naseh and David Sandström, and the prize for Spårhunden, for best children's and young adult crime novel, went to Daniel Sjölin's and Klara Bertilsson's "Morsan är haffad".

Carina Burman's "Crime Queens and Pretenders" was awarded the prize as the non-fiction book of the year.
