A delegation of mayors of heartland cities in the United States visited Hubei on the afternoon of October 10. The delegation consisted of mayors of six cities from four states: Indiana, Missouri, Tennessee and Minnesota, experts and scholars, representatives in China and representatives of hinterland associations.

In the afternoon of the same day, the Hubei-Central United States Mayors Roundtable was held in Wuhan. Representatives from China and the United States focused on the theme of "Advocating Green Cooperation and Promoting China-US Friendship".

Wu Haitao, vice governor of the Hubei Provincial Government, said that Hubei Province and the United States have always maintained friendly exchanges, with continuous high-level exchanges and close cooperation in various fields, which have played an important role in the economic development of both sides.

I would like to take this opportunity to put forward a few suggestions on continuing to deepen cooperation between Hubei and the cities and states of the hinterland of the United States. The first is to expand exchanges and cooperation in the field of environmental protection. The second is to strengthen exchanges and cooperation in the field of public medical care. The third is to deepen exchanges and cooperation in the field of humanities education. On the occasion of the 44th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and the United States, it is of great significance and far-reaching impact to be able to hold this roundtable in Wuhan, Hubei Province, and we look forward to enhancing friendship and mutual trust between China and the United States in the future.

At the meeting, Xiangyang City and Carmel City signed the Agreement on the Formal Establishment of Sister City Relations between Xiangyang City in Hubei Province and Carmel City in the United States. The two sides agreed to jointly promote friendly exchanges and economic and trade exchanges between the people of the two cities on the basis of equality and mutual benefit, and actively carry out exchanges and cooperation in various fields such as science and technology, culture, sports, public health, education, and human resources.

I hope that the mayors of China and the United States will have exchanges in Wuhan, Hubei Province, to lay the foundation for future cooperation, whether it is in green development, climate change mitigation, agricultural trade, and education and culture.
