Two children, aged nine and eleven, laid several plasterboards on the rails between Stuttgart and Ulm on Sunday evening in Uhingen in the district of Göppingen. An ICE ran over the plates a little later and had to make an emergency stop, the Federal Police said.

According to the information, no one was injured. The train from Stuttgart was damaged, but he was able to continue his journey, according to the police. According to a spokesman, it was initially unclear how high the damage was.

According to various clues, the emergency services found the two children near the scene of the accident and brought them to their parents. The route was closed after the incident for about an hour, the spokesman said. The Federal Police are investigating dangerous interference with rail traffic.
