In Pinellas County in the US state of Florida, an alligator has been seen with a corpse in its mouth – according to the Sheriff's Office, the animal has been killed and the dead person has now been identified. Accordingly, it is a 41-year-old woman – the exact cause of death, however, has not yet been clarified.
People magazine also reported that the crocodile carried the body down a street and into a body of water. A local resident told Spectrum News that he happened to see the animal with the human remains in its mouth on its way to a job interview. He then immediately reported it to the authorities.
According to the police, the incident occurred on Friday. The animal was almost four meters long and was killed in a "humane way". According to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, adult alligators typically feed on fish, snakes, turtles, smaller mammals, and birds.
