This Sunday has been the hottest day of the year so far, with temperatures of more than 37 degrees Celsius in places. As a meteorologist from the German Weather Service (DWD) in Stuttgart said, 37.2 degrees Celsius were measured on Sunday afternoon in Neckarwestheim. This made the southwest the hottest region in Germany on Sunday, according to preliminary data.
In other parts of Germany, too, it was 35 degrees and hotter on Sunday. In Bavaria, for example, 35.3 degrees were measured in Kitzingen in Lower Franconia, according to the DWD.
On Saturday, according to preliminary DWD data, it was up to 35.7 degrees hot. This maximum temperature had been measured in Tönisvorst (North Rhine-Westphalia). It had already been so warm on June 22 in Reit im Winkl in Upper Bavaria.
The German temperature record is still a long way from all these values. According to the DWD, 25.2019 degrees Celsius were measured at the stations in Duisburg and Tönisvorst on July 41, 2.
