With a team deprived of its holders like Mahrez, Bounedjah, Slimani, Mandi or Benrahma, Algeria won (2-1) against Uganda thanks to a double of Mohamed El Amine Amoura (42nd and 67th) Not having a stadium approved by CAF, Uganda had to relocate this meeting to Cameroon, in a Jappoma stadium in Douala that does not evoke very good memories to Algerians. But, this time, the "exorcism" came from a player who was present at the CAN without playing a single second. The Lugano striker took advantage of a ball released by the goalkeeper after a Belkebla strike to open the scoring, before taking advantage of an assist from Riyad Mahrez to add to the bill on an action he had initiated himself. The Ugandans will take advantage of a mistake by the Fennecs defense to reduce the score by Faha Bayo (88th).
Note that Houssem Aouar, the former French international Espoirs, made his first selection by returning in the 64th minute to replace Himad Abdelli
In the same Group F, Tanzania bounced back with its narrow victory over Niger now eliminated from the race for CAN 2024. The Taifa stars have their destinies in hand for the last day even if they travel to Algeria. One match will be enough for them to stamp their ticket to Côte d'Ivoire.
Ghana were not far from their side, but could not do better than a 0-0 draw in Madagascar, but retain the lead of their pool. In this very tight Group E, everything will be played on the last day with the posters Ghana-Central African Republic and Angola-Madagascar.
