"To be honest, these children are a group of 'abandoned' students in junior high school." Fu Chengfeng, a teacher in charge of the "college entrance examination class" department of the Zhuji Vocational Education Center, said. Some students have a gap of several tens or even one or two hundred points from the general high score line, and if they enter a private high school to impact the general college entrance examination, they are likely not to go to college. The tuition fees of private high schools at least tens of thousands of yuan a year also stop children from ordinary families. At this time, tuition-free middle jobs became the bottom choice.

"Without vocational school, I wouldn't be where I am now." Zhou Wenqin said.
Zhao Yinqi, who was also majoring in architecture, was only 1 point short of entering an ordinary high school in the middle school entrance examination that year, and he had never thought of studying for middle school before. When he first entered school, because of his psychological gap, he often violated discipline, was placed on probation, and even faced withdrawal from school for a while. Every year, colleges and universities in Zhejiang Province will allocate a part of undergraduate places to secondary vocational candidates. Zhao Yinqi's architecture major had 180 undergraduate places in the province last year, and if he was admitted to the top 50 in the province, he would be able to enter Zhejiang Sci-Tech University. Competition for preschool education majors is equally fierce, with thousands of secondary vocational candidates across the province competing for 70 undergraduate places, and the top 40 can attend Zhejiang Normal University.
"Their learning ability may not be as strong, but the motivation to learn is something that our teachers can change." Li Keping, a mathematics teacher at the Zhuji Vocational Education Center, said. She is a post-95 generation, not much different in age from the students here, and she understands their difficulties better. The difficulty of cultural classes for secondary vocational students is lower than that of ordinary students, but even the best students are not "one point to understand", relying on repeated practice. From kindergarten to junior high school, she was bullied many times because of her size, and was diagnosed with moderate depression in the first year of junior high school. After the high school entrance examination, secondary vocational school became her only choice with mediocre grades, but professional classes allowed her to gain dance, piano, vocal music and other skills, and also developed her painting expertise. "Our skills are superior to those of Pu Gao, and after three years of secondary vocational education, the university will choose this major." Fan Shuangshuang of the computer class said that she previously thought that going to a middle school job was a "mixed life", and only after learning did she know the benefits and confidence of "one skill". In professional classes, she learned the operation of practical software such as programming and audio and video editing, and in the future, she wants to start her own business and sell her skills and services on online platforms.
The dilemma of vocational secondary schools is also evident. June is the "hardest" month for teachers in the vocational education center, in addition to staring at the "college entrance examination", they also have to go door-to-door to recruit students. Sometimes a dozen parents are called in the afternoon, and the other party either says that they have found a good school or simply do not consider going to middle school. Parents generally feel that their children have "more face" in going to Pu Gao, and prejudice and incomprehension about middle jobs still exist.
