Fire in Hamburg's HafenCity

A fire has broken out in Hamburg's HafenCity. The affected building is still under construction, a police spokesman told the dpa news agency. Dark clouds of smoke could be seen from the spot.
The police wrote on Twitter, "banging noises" came from gas cylinders that were on the construction site. She called for people to avoid the area around Chicagostraße.
In a warning message, the fire brigade reported a "strong smoke development due to major fire". The population could be "affected" by smoke gases. The NDR reported that two fire engines of the professional fire brigade were in use. Reports of injuries are therefore not available.
The background to the incident is still unclear.
