Understand "Why China" from the National Version Pavilion
On July 2022, 7, the "One Total Three Points" of the China National Version Pavilion was inaugurated at the same time.
Rooted in the profound heritage of Chinese culture and shouldering the sacred mission of continuing the cultural context and developing culture, the National Version Museum of China is mainly responsible for the coordination of national version resource planning, census collection, collection display, research exchange and publicity and use.
It has been nearly a year since the opening of the National Version Museum of China, and it is known as the gene bank of Chinese cultural seeds. So, how can the China National Version Pavilion help us understand the proposition of "why China"?
What is the "National Version Pavilion"?
Use versions as a carrier to record historical changes
Li Tao, designer of the exhibition design unit of the National Version Pavilion, said: The Version Hall is different from all other museums, exhibition halls and art galleries. When I first approached this project, I first made it clear that the version museum is not something, it is not exactly a museum, nor is it exactly a library, nor is it exactly an exhibition hall; What is it? I think it's a new form that integrates all these elements and then conveys version information.
The "National Version Pavilion" is an institution that integrates the elements of various cultural and museum institutions and then conveys version information.
So what is a "version" again? "Version" in the National Version Museum of China is a broad concept, from ancient books, inscriptions, to calligraphy and paintings, bronzes, and even grain stamps and currency, all carriers that leave the imprint of Chinese civilization in ancient and modern China and abroad can be regarded as "version resources". To sum up, the National Version Museum is a comprehensive cultural institution integrating museums, libraries, exhibition halls, archives and art galleries.
The version is a high-level cultural carrier, reflecting and witnessing the achievements of civilization in an era, and also promoting the development and progress of a nation. "What to hide", "how much to hide", "how to collect", "how to hide" and "how to exhibit" have become the key to the content construction of the national version museum.
The construction of the National Version Museum has always highlighted the unique style of version culture, and after many expert research and demonstrations, it has been determined that ten categories of version resources containing the imprints, cultural symbols and context information of Chinese civilization in ancient and modern China and abroad will be included in the scope of preservation, and strive to build a rich and authoritative Chinese version resource library. When selecting the exhibits of the collection, we insist on taking the content of cultural value as the yardstick, and select versions with historical, ideological, social and aesthetic value, in order to "collect the texts of a hundred lifetimes and collect the rhyme of a thousand years".
The rolls are voluminous and there are hundreds of cities. Nearly 900 collection units, more than 580 book publishing houses, more than 1,2500 newspapers and periodicals and many private collectors across the country have earnestly carried out surveys on ancient book version resources and actively contributed precious edition resources. Up to now, the total branch library has a total of more than <> million editions, including many classic editions with heirloom value.
In the south square of Wenhua Hall of the Central General Building, a stone sculpture stands majestically, this 1.6-meter-long stone seal on the side of the printing surface, engraved with four big characters: "Continuing the Cultural Context", announcing to the world the responsibility and mission of this brand-new cultural hall!
Chinese Cultural Seed Gene Bank
"The Famous Mountain of Tibet, Passed on to Future Generations"
As the crystallization of civilization development and the golden seed of cultural inheritance, the version remembers the evolutionary process of the birth, development and expansion of the Chinese nation, and carries a heavy history and splendid culture. In the long history of the development of Chinese civilization, the carriers of the editions are ever-changing, whether it is rare classics and ancient scrolls or art treasures like a river of stars, each version that has survived to this day is the confidence and pride of the Chinese, demonstrating the profound cultural soft power of the Chinese nation.
From the Zhou Dynasty's Guard Room to the Tianlu Pavilion in the Han Dynasty, from the Hongwen Museum in the Tang Dynasty to the Chongwen Courtyard in the Song Dynasty, from the Wenyuan Pavilion in the Ming Dynasty to the Four Libraries and Seven Pavilions in the Qing Dynasty, the special collection institution has been undertaking the cultural function of Bacon for thousands of years.
In the new era, how to further preserve the version of our nation? How to better inherit this national cultural root?
The National Version Museum of China is the National Version Resource Database and the Gene Bank of Chinese Cultural Seeds. This is a far-reaching consideration for the future.
At present, the Chinese National Version Pavilion has planned the pattern of "one total and three points" - the Central Pavilion "Wenhan Pavilion" and the Xi'an Branch Library "Wenji Pavilion", the Hangzhou Branch Library "Wenrun Pavilion", and the Guangzhou Branch Library "Wenqin Pavilion". They are distributed in the east, west, south and north of our country. In terms of site selection, the National Version Pavilion focuses on the theme of the cultural seed "Famous Mountain of Tibet and Passing on to Future Generations", and the main branch library is built according to the mountain, and the main branch library is located in Beijing Yanshan, Xi'an Qinling Guifeng Mountain, Hangzhou Liangzhu and Guangzhou Phoenix Mountain.

Walking into the Central Headquarters of the National Version Museum of China, the Wenhan Pavilion is elegant and solemn hidden in the landscape garden, and the plaque of the ancient pavilion by the pool is dotted with the four characters of "Confluence and Clarification", which means "gathering the source of knowledge and gaining insight into the ancient and modern principles".
Strolling through it, from the "Eight Views of Wenhan" that interprets the culture of book collection to the starry sky dome in the national study room derived from the astronomical stone carvings of the Song Dynasty, from the cultural corridor presenting the classics of Chinese calligraphy and painting to the flying murals with oriental aesthetic charm on the vault vault, designs rich in Chinese cultural elements can be seen everywhere.
In harmony with the spatial environment and echoing the theme of the exhibition, nationally renowned artists and teams have carefully created various works of art such as carved lacquer screens, pavilion plaques, Dunhuang murals, figure sculptures, and Su embroidery double-sided embroidery.
Since the founding of New China, all kinds of publication editions have been included in the collection, and at the same time, Chinese ancient books, revolutionary documents, religious documents, engraved rubbings, inscriptions, genealogy, coins and stamps, digital versions of film and television dramas and foreign fine editions with historical and cultural inheritance value have been absorbed... Covering tens of thousands of exhibits of ten major editions, taking China's historical development and the evolution of Chinese civilization as the main line, laying the pattern of "1 theme exhibition + 2 basic exhibitions + 4 special exhibitions". At the same time, 2 fine exhibitions of the National Study Room and the Wenhan Hall, and 5 special library exhibitions of the North District Warehouse and the Dongku are set up to create a version display system that integrates politics, ideology, history and artistry, and strives to play the role of witnessing history, learning from history and enlightening future generations.
