In DR Congo the prosecutor of the International Criminal Court is visiting. Karim Khan has called for an end to violence in the east of the country where he advocates a different way to work with local communities to combat war crimes. Aurélie Bazzara-Kibangula tells us more.

The seven countries of the East African Community (EAC) have announced that they have extended until September the mandate of their military force tasked with reducing violence in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), and criticized by Kinshasa. The force, made up of Kenyan, Ugandan, Burundian and South Sudanese soldiers, has been deployed gradually since last November in response to an advance by M23 rebels in the region, which has been plagued by armed groups for nearly 30 years.

The controversy in Zimbabwe concerning a so-called patriotic law that criminalizes any infringement of sovereignty. A text with vague contours deemed liberticide by the opposition and NGOs.

In Ethiopia, liturgical songs and prayers are conducted exclusively from manuscripts transcribed on parchments, not on paper. But the tradition of religious manuscripts on parchment is disappearing.
