A national panel of experts, which has been discussing measures to address the worsening shortage of airport staff, has proposed an interim report that calls on airlines and other organizations to raise fees for outsourcing operations by around autumn, saying that it is necessary to raise on-site wages.

As for airport staff, while demand for air travel has recovered, it is difficult to secure manpower, which has been reduced due to the corona disaster, and as of April, the number of security inspectors and ground handling for loading and unloading luggage decreased by 4% compared to before the spread of infection.

As a result, congestion has intensified, and some airports have been affected by the resumption of routes, and on June 23, the national expert committee that has been considering countermeasures presented an interim report.

Among them, we are calling on
airlines and other companies to raise the fees for outsourcing and receiving work by around autumn, as it is necessary to improve treatment such as wage increases, and ▽ In the medium to long term, we are requesting the active use of foreign human resources and
the realization of diverse work styles through the "Specified Skilled Worker System".

In addition, we are asking local governments to support airport operations as part of attracting routes
,
and from the national government to support the introduction of advanced technologies and to consider appropriate security-related fees.

On top of that, the panel of experts pointed out that "the current situation of the airline industry's brand and sense of mission and continuing to exploit it for reward should be improved as soon as possible," and we will request a response as soon as this proposal is officially decided.
