A private survey has found that more than 6,3500 items of food and beverages will be raised in June, and it is likely that the price increase of familiar foods will spread further.

According to a survey of 195 domestic food and beverage manufacturers by Teikoku Databank, a private credit research company, the number of food and beverage items to be raised in June is 6,3575, including "re-price increases" and "real price increases" that reduce the amount of food and beverages without changing the price.

In terms of product breakdown, ▽ 1674 items of seasonings ▽ 1612 items of processed foods are covered, and of processed foods,

567 items
are covered by cup noodles alone.

In addition, prices of a wide range of products are scheduled to increase after July against the backdrop of rising prices of imported wheat and raw milk, as well as rising electricity bills, and the research company believes that the price increase in food and beverages this year may reach 7,7 items as early as July, exceeding the number of items in one year last year.

On the other hand, the analysis shows that households' food expenditures are lacking momentum at present, and some foods, such as frozen foods that have been raised multiple times, have been sluggish in sales at stores after price increases.

Teikoku Databank points out that "consumers who cannot keep up with repeated price increases are clearly inclined to protect their livelihoods, and if the yen depreciates more than last year, there is a possibility that the movement to 'hold back on price increases' such as keeping prices unchanged or lowering prices will spread toward the second half of this year."
