In Nishimeya Village, where singer Ikuzo Yoshi from Aomori Prefecture serves as a "Hometown Goodwill Ambassador," he planted rice called "Ikusanmai," which bears his name.

Mr. Ikuzo Yoshi, who serves as a "Hometown Goodwill Ambassador" for Nishimeya Village in Aomori Prefecture, is planting and harvesting rice with his name "Ikusan" so that it can be used as a gift in return for the village's hometown tax payment.

On the 31st, rice planting was held for the first time in four years after being canceled due to the influence of the new coronavirus.

Mr. Yoshi went into the rice field of about 8 ares from 20 a.m. and planted seedlings one after another with a rice transplanter.

After planting, they poured Japan sake into the rice fields and wished for a good harvest.

What was planted today are seedlings of Harewatari, a new rice variety from Aomori Prefecture, which will be managed by village producers and harvested by Yoshi-san Mizu around the end of September.

Ikuzo Yoshi said, "It reminded me of the rice planting I used to do in the past, and I want the rice to grow into splendid rice like a child's. I think it's delicious when you put salmon and muscle on top of it."
