"In the inheritance of intangible cultural heritage craftsmanship, should inheritors immerse themselves in their own works, or should we consider expanding publicity and cultivating the market?" "At present, there are more and more film and television works involving intangible cultural heritage elements, how to shoot freshness?" A drama "Just Meeting You" with intangible cultural heritage (hereinafter referred to as "intangible cultural heritage") culture as the "absolute protagonist" began broadcasting on May 5, which triggered the audience's thinking about cultural inheritance. Recently, the show's producer Li Xiuzhen and Hong Kong actor Wu Qianyu were interviewed by a reporter from China News to share the behind-the-scenes stories of the shooting and discuss how to better bring intangible cultural heritage closer to young audiences.

Star-studded "play within a play"

Talk about intangible cultural heritage through "intangible cultural heritage variety shows"

The main plot of the hit drama "Just Meeting You" is the setting of "play within a play": a new choreographer and a young cultural relics expert team up to create a TV show "Inheritance" focusing on intangible cultural heritage. "We hope that by interpreting the stories and history behind cultural relics, more audiences will be willing to enter the museum and arouse the public's attention to the protection of cultural relics and the protection of civilization." Li Xiuzhen, the show's producer, said in an interview with China News.

"This drama takes non-genetic inheritance as the main line, and is composed of different units, each unit has an independent traditional cultural theme, and the narrative method is very novel." Wu Qianyu, who participated in the play, said in an interview with China News that "Just Meeting You" adopts the mode of unit drama, so that a number of intangible cultural heritage crafts appear in the "drama within a play" program "Inheritance", and the plot is fast-paced and more in line with the needs of young audiences.

Wu Qianyu introduced that since the big star Zhuang Yiyi played by her, he is a friend of young cultural relics experts, and many stories have happened with the male and female protagonists outside the show. "Zhuang Yiyi is a charming villain, and the contrast of 'white cutting black' (looks simple, but is actually quite a city government) on her body will bring the audience relatively large emotional fluctuations, but it can also allow the audience to empathize with her and understand her situation and practices."

In addition to Wu Qianyu, there are also many popular actors in the play, such as Hong Kong "actress" Hui Yinghong, mainland actors Jin Chen, Li Yitong, Shen Yue and so on. They have created a number of characters with distinct personalities in different units, which leads to intangible cultural heritage stories and leaves more "memory points" of intangible cultural heritage to the audience.

Real inheritors appear in "Easter eggs"

Suzhou Museum "electrocuted" for the first time

In the film and television dramas broadcast in recent years, intangible cultural heritage elements are common. For example, the hit drama "Go to a Windy Place" brings the unique national characteristics of Bai tie-dye and embroidery into the audience's field of vision; After the broadcast of "Yanxi Raiders", the popularity of topics related to Beijing embroidery increased greatly; "Menghualu" brought fire to the Song Dynasty to order tea; "The Green Mountains in the Moon Are Picturesque" puts many intangible cultural heritage such as Su Frame, Peachblossom Woodblock New Year Painting and so on the screen... The popularity of intangible cultural heritage in the film and television industry shows that its market potential is huge. However, at the same time, many film and television works have problems such as inaccurate content and incorrect expression when using intangible cultural heritage elements, which has caused dissatisfaction among traditional culture lovers.

"Just Meeting You" has more than ten kinds of intangible cultural heritage skills "appearing", not only presenting "quiet" traditional handicrafts such as filigree inlay, Shanghai-style cheongsam and jade carving, but also the charm of Dunhuang dance, shadow puppet play and other intangible cultural heritage items "moving". How to accurately show these traditional cultures in front of the camera? The crew's practice is to invite the inheritors of intangible cultural heritage skills as consultants for the show "Inheritance" in the play, and "calibrate" the details inside and outside the play.

In order to strengthen the "play" of intangible cultural heritage, the main creative team of the play also interviewed a number of intangible cultural heritage inheritors across the country, and made a short documentary film, which was broadcast at the end of each unit drama. For example, the intangible cultural heritage craft that appeared in the story of the first unit is "filigree inlay", and in the second episode, Du Jianyi, the inheritor of filigree inlay, appeared to introduce the historical evolution and technical difficulties of filigree inlay.

Why are these "Easter eggs" set at the end of the episode? Li Xiuzhen said frankly: "Some old craftsmen are already seventy or eighty years old, where is the future of intangible cultural heritage? How can we pass on the torch? This is a question that makes the main creative team think deeply. We hope to attract the attention of young audiences, and only with their active participation can China's intangible cultural heritage continue to have the next generation of successors. ”

Li Xiuzhen introduced that "Just Meeting You" is the first film and television series filmed in the Suzhou Museum. "The main creative team did a lot of research in different cities in the early stage. Considering that the script required that the story take place have both 'strong cultural heritage' and 'modern urban elements', we finally chose Suzhou. ”

Li Xiuzhen added, "In addition, the main building of the Suzhou Museum is the work of architect I.M. Pei, and framing here can allow our drama to better convey oriental aesthetics." (End)
