In Bremen, the police said they had stopped an illegal street race with rented high-powered luxury sports cars. According to the report, the emergency services stopped six cars from manufacturers such as Lamborghini, Porsche and Ferrari early Monday morning in the Überseestadt district. A 19-year-old in a Porsche and a 22-year-old in a Lamborghini were engaged in a race with overtaking maneuvers at high speed when the emergency services arrived, the police said.

In total, the officials, alerted by residents, assume eleven suspected participants. It is being investigated because of a prohibited motor vehicle race. Against a 20-year-old, who filmed the race from the side of the road, there was also an open arrest warrant.

Bystanders injured in car races

Already on Saturday, an uninvolved driver was slightly injured in another car race in Bremen. According to police, a 59-year-old in a Ferrari and an unknown person in a jeep in the Hemelingen district had dueled "at very high speed". The Ferrari driver skidded in a curve and slid over a grassy area into oncoming traffic.

There he collided with the car of a 56-year-old, who had to be treated in hospital with minor injuries. The driver's license of the Ferrari driver was reportedly confiscated. The driver of the jeep was a fugitive. In this case, too, the police are investigating a prohibited car race.
