Recently, the topic of secondary infection of the new crown virus such as "Eryang" has attracted everyone's attention.

What is the current coronavirus epidemic? Why will there be "yang" after "yang"? In response to questions of public concern, the joint prevention and control mechanism of the State Council recently organized experts to answer questions.

The national epidemic prevention and control situation is stable and controllable

According to the monitoring data of the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention, after a stable turn in February this year, China's new crown epidemic has entered a local sporadic distribution trend, and since late April this year, the epidemic has increased, and after mid-May, it has entered a low-level wave epidemic situation.

Wang Liping, researcher at the Department of Communication and Prevention of the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention: So from the fever outpatient visits, we can also see that although the number of patients visiting since late April has increased, the overall amount is still far lower than the fever outpatient visits at the peak of the last wave of epidemics. The vast majority of patients are still mild patients, so combined with the data of multi-channel monitoring, in the next period, the epidemic caused by the XBB series variant will continue for a period of time, but the entire epidemic prevention and control situation in the country is still stable and controllable.

Experts remind the public that to prevent infection, it is still necessary to continue to maintain good hygiene habits, scientifically wear masks, and wash hands frequently.

Wang Liping, researcher of the Department of Communication and Prevention of the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention: If you go to places such as medical institutions and nursing institutions, especially for the elderly, people with underlying chronic diseases and some key personnel such as pregnant women, we still recommend that they wear masks.

There was no significant change in the pathogenicity of the XBB series variants

Chen Cao, a researcher at the Institute of Virology of the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention, said that surveillance data shows that whether it is imported cases or local cases, the proportion of Omicron XBB series variants is high, which is basically the same as the proportion of global XBB series variants.

Chen Cao, a researcher at the Institute of Virology, Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention: Among the imported cases, the proportion of XBB variant continues to be at a high level, accounting for 5.15% of the collected sequences from May 5 to May 21. Among the local cases, its XBB series variant accounted for 95.2% of the sequences collected from May 5 to May 15, and some other Omicron variants, its overall proportion was less than 5%. Then the proportion of evolutionary analysis is consistent with the main epidemic strains of our global and our country's surrounding areas and countries for the same period. With the increasing number of imported variant strains and the decay of antibody levels in our national population, the number of recent cases of infection with the XBB variant may increase, but there is no significant change in its virulence.

Is "Eryang" more harmful to the body? Will there be sequelae?

In response to the general concern of the public, whether the symptoms of "two yang" are serious, the more times of "yang", will the symptoms become more severe, and the greater the harm to the body? How should patients with "Eryang" deal with their condition? Will there be any sequelae? Experts from the joint prevention and control mechanism of the State Council gave answers.

Li Tongzeng, chief physician of the Department of Infection of Beijing You'an Hospital: The people we have observed at present are mainly young people and young adults, that is, people aged 18 to 60. In general, after these people "two yang", the symptoms are significantly lighter than when they are "one yang", may be in the past he sometimes severe headache, "blade voice", cough is particularly heavy, "two yang" his own symptoms feel lighter than the first time, recovery is also faster, generally 3 ~ 5 days, may be the first "yang" most people need 5 ~ 7 days. So everyone feels not as nervous as the first time, the overall these young people, young adults, immunocompetent people, he still gained resistance after the first infection, he can face the second time easier and easier to defeat the virus, recovery faster.

Experts recommend that "Eryang" patients should not bring illness to work, otherwise it is not conducive to the recovery of infected people, and it will also increase the risk of virus transmission.

Li Tongzeng, chief physician of the Department of Infectious Diseases of Beijing You'an Hospital: If you have a fever and respiratory symptoms, you must rest. If it is said that after rest, you feel that the symptoms are still worsening, especially after more than 5 days, you still have a fever, a high fever, or even chest tightness, breath holding and other symptoms, you should go to the hospital in time. If the symptoms are not severe, the vast majority of people will be able to recover in about 5 days.

For the sequelae of the new crown that some people are worried about, experts have also explained.

Li Tongzeng, chief physician of the Department of Infectious Diseases of Beijing You'an Hospital: Some patients recover slowly, but according to the definition of the World Health Organization, it is generally more than three months, and these symptoms still exist, and these symptoms have lasted for more than two months, we call it "sequelae". In fact, there are relatively few patients who meet this definition, because some patients who are not completely well for one or two months, he is more anxious to come to the doctor, in fact, more than three months later still have very few symptoms. Some foreign reports are that the sequelae of "two yang" or even "three yang" are more serious, mainly based on some vulnerable groups, the elderly and people with more underlying diseases.
