During a storm on Lake Maggiore in northern Lombardy, a tourist boat capsized. At least one person was killed, according to Italian media reports. Authorities are looking for several people who are still missing.

A sudden hurricane capsized the boat at the height of the town of Lisanza with more than twenty tourists and crew members, reports the ANSA news agency. Italian firefighters said nineteen people had been rescued. Many reportedly managed to swim to shore.

Rescue divers and helicopter crews searched for the missing, said fire department spokesman Luca Cari. A video from the fire brigade shows a helicopter over the lake, on which seats of the boat and other objects floated.

The hurricane was part of a storm system that swept across northern Lombardy on Sunday evening and also caused delays at Milan Malpensa Airport. Located in northern Italy, Lake Maggiore is the second largest lake in Italy and a popular holiday destination.
