Cannes Film Festival: the Palme d'Or awarded to Justine Triet for "Anatomy of a Fall"
The jury of the Cannes Film Festival delivered its verdict this Saturday, May 27. French director Justine Triet's Anatomy of a Fall won the prestigious Palme d'Or, the third by a woman.

France's Justine Triet won the Palme d'Or at Cannes on Saturday for Anatomy of a Fall, becoming the third sacred director in the Festival's history. The 44-year-old filmmaker succeeds Jane Campion (The Piano Lesson, 1993) and Julia Ducournau (Titanium, 2021), confirming the slow movement towards equality in a film industry historically dominated by men.
The winners:
- At the age of 67, Japan's Koji Yakucho received the Best Actor award for his role in Wim Wenders' film Perfect Days.
The Best Actress award goes to Turkish actress Merve Dizdar for her role in Nuri Bilge Ceylon's Dry Herbs.
The Golden Butterfly Tree which receives the Caméra d'or, the crème de la crème of the parallel selection. The debut film by Vietnamese director Pham Thien An, 34, made a strong impression on critics.
The award for best screenplay goes to Sakomoto Yugi for Monster, by Japanese director Hirokazu Kore-Eda.
The jury prize went to the film Les Feuilles mortes by Finnish director Akis Korismaki. This award is considered the bronze medal of the winners.
- The French film Tran Anh-Hung won the Best Director Award for The Passion of Dodin-Bouffant. A film with Juliette Binoche and Benoît Magimel.
- The Grand Jury Prize goes to Zone of Interest by Jonathan Glazer. The film depicts the family life of Rudolf Höss, commander of Auschwitz, striving to build a dream life for their family in a house with garden next to the camp.
