During the graduation season, many graduates who have just entered the society will face many "firsts", renting a house, going to work, socializing with colleagues... Many people will feel some "discomfort". Recently, a survey of 1334 newcomers in the workplace conducted by the Social Survey Center of China Youth Daily showed that 57.9% of the interviewed newcomers felt that what they learned in school did not match the actual work needs, and 71.7% of the interviewed newcomers expected employers to strengthen pre-employment training. Among the new employees surveyed, 30.2% are about to join the company, and 69.8% are already employed. (China Youth Daily, May 5)

From the survey, college graduates hope that colleges and universities will strengthen guidance and support in career planning training (62.4%), social skills training (57.0%), and professional skills training (54.2%). Such a high group demand has a profound practical background. Many colleges and universities do not pay enough attention to career planning, and there are still many areas that need to be improved. In recent years, although many college students have also received corresponding job search and employment training on campus, they lack initiative and enthusiasm in practice. Many college graduates only have a clearer career plan when they are close to graduation, and once they enter the workplace from campus, they will inevitably experience a period of discomfort.

For example, the above survey results show that 87.6% of the interviewed newcomers have experienced an embarrassing period, and they need the help of employers to let them get through this "torment period" as soon as possible. Although every new employee will have an "discomfort period", the length of the adaptation period is related to the professional recognition of the new recruit and the acceptance of the position itself. The degree of external recognition and self-acceptance is high, and the stability of new recruits is relatively high, so it is not easy to change jobs frequently. This is not only conducive to allowing employers to find relatively stable and reliable employees, but also conducive to long-term stable employment of new recruits.

However, some new college graduates, because they cannot adapt to the company's requirements, many people either cannot work in their existing positions with peace of mind, or because they have not done a good job of workplace planning and preparation in advance, they are at a loss after entering the workplace. Factors such as the work environment that does not meet expectations, the pressure of competition among colleagues, and the divergence between work and interests have become the main factors why many new graduates feel uncomfortable in the workplace. It is necessary for all parties to work together to enable college graduates to realize the transformation from students to social people as soon as possible and reduce the troubles and hidden dangers caused by workplace discomfort.

On the one hand, colleges and universities should advance students' career planning education, and should start on the first day of entering colleges and universities, rather than waiting until graduation. Now there are many colleges and universities in China, and planning for career planning education in advance to the first year is a measure worthy of recognition. At the same time, colleges and universities should also do a good job in school-enterprise docking, assist students to choose positions that meet their career plans during the internship period, let college graduates receive practical training during the internship period, make internship an adaptation period from campus to workplace transformation, and help them smoothly adapt to the job after graduation.

On the other hand, employers should also do a good job in caring for and helping "workplace whites", on the basis of strengthening the skills training of new recruits, create an enterprise environment and atmosphere of "old with new" and "pass on help", assist them through career embarrassment and difficult periods, and thereby enhance the recognition and acceptance of corporate culture by newcomers, and achieve the purpose of retaining people with affection.

In addition, new college students also need to use their free time such as winter and summer vacations to participate in social practice, company internships, accumulate social experience, exercise their independence in dealing with things, improve their communication skills, and adapt to discomfort. Parents should also give appropriate support to let college students get rid of their dependence on their parents as soon as possible, pave the way for an independent life in the future, and create conditions for their children to mature as soon as possible.
